The gardens are allowing the rainwater to be treated through a small sewage system that uses plants and soil. This allows cleaner water to re- enter the seas with less chemical treatment to sewage water. This example of green initiative allows the communities waste, to not only get trapped through the water cycle and clean the air pollutants when it rains, but also makes those pollutants food for much needed vegetation in those communities, giving back oxygen to its surrounding residents.
